Shedding Tears Over the Corona Virus

This morning as I am reading "A World in Tears" by David Jeremiah in August 2020 Turning Points Magazine & Devotional, I am reflecting on the tears I have shed during this crisis. Dr. Jeremiah puts it all in perspective, "Many tears have been shed over the corona virus and its reign of death, financial ruin, and social anxiety. If there ever was a time when the world needed hope, grace, unity, and salvation, it's now."

This brought me cause to open up my first Bible from 1977.  Its old tattered pages and slightly brown paper yield a marked passage and a slip of paper from a previous sermon I attended years ago.

"Sometimes it takes a painful situation to make us change our ways." Proverbs 20:30 (GNB)
"I am glad ... not because it hurt you but because the pain turned you to God..." 2 Corinthians 7:9 (TLB)

Strife and pain will come and go on our journey through this life.  The things that stay constant are God and his word.  If you don't know God or have forgotten how much he loves and cares for you connect or re-connect with a local church for support.

What does it mean to believe?

I have thought about this a lot lately.  What does it mean to believe?  And if we think we believe then why don't we act like we believe?  Why don't we walk through everyday with a confidence that what we believe is true?

Believe
accept (something) as true; feel sure of the truth of.
